Wordpress 2.6.1 Launched

by trigatch4 on August 16th, 2008

Well… the loss of all my categories taught me that perhaps I should upgrade Wordpress a bit more regularly. I haven’t in the past because its a real pain. Not only that, but upgrading often breaks things like plugins, themes, etc… that aren’t worth the effort.

But, a lot of folks take a “wait and see” approach, not updating until others have acted the guinae pig and given their review and/or consent to continue. With the launch of wordpress 2.6.1 came a comment directly from the folks at WP that makes me think this is the way to go:

With 2.6.1, we’re continuing our trend of releasing a maintenance release shortly after a major release in order to get fixes for the inevitable “dot zero” bugs into your hands without a long wait.

Uhh… okay? Remind me never to download a “dot zero” WP upgrade again. Still, not much was updated in 2.6.1 – the two main things they mention are support for right to left reading for different languages and some “gettext” error.

I figured some of you folks might be update obsessed so… do the dirty work and let us know when its safe to follow!
