To launch my new forum and vbulletin community for political discussion – PoliticalFury – I took an interesting approach on submitting to Digg.

How neat would it be to hold a Presidential Election where Digg members voted? Since my forum is basically starting from scratch… I did just that. I set up a poll where anyone can vote but you have to be a member to post replies. It features 9 candidates up for election and an OTHER option.

I then submitted the story to Digg as: “Digg Presidential Election” with a very short but sweet description. It should be incredibly easy for diggers to participate and I hope it is interesting/sticky enough to get frontpaged. I haven’t been frontpaged yet so we’ll see.  Either way, within the first hour, I’ve already recieved some decent traffic so I can’t complain. I just hope backlinks and active members follow!
